I grew up on a produce farm, soaking up sunshine, surrounded by fields of vegetables, corn, soybeans, pumpkins and amber waves of grain. We always had fresh ingredients to use, straight from sunshine to plate. We cooked out of necessity and not as a joyful hobby, except when I made my favorite, mud pie (real mud).
